Jay Jay Jnr

So each night when I decide to give myself a break from attempting to study the complexities of Property and Trust Law I have been racking my brain for inspiration and ideas to add to this space. Many instances I draw blanks, but I try and write down any ideas that come to me before I go to sleep. Although it may not be interesting, controversial or mildly inspiring...here goes.

(Yes, i realize this blurb gives you no idea what this post is about...so I guess you will just have to read it?)

I am only 20 years old, yet I have had the opportunity to travel the world and meet some fascinating, bizarre, inspiring, enthusiastic and crazily lucky people. Everyone has their own story and everyone you meet leaves behind a memory.

In June/July 2011 I made the flight ALL the way to Europe with my family for a holiday. During this incredible month we were away...we did a cruise on the Norwegian Jade to all the Greek Islands for a week. We met some pretty crazy Mexican friends on this cruise...and made so many memories. There are a few people I would like to introduce...1. Jay Jay and 2. Jonathon 3. Jay Jay Jnr. Numbers 1 and 2 were staff on the cruise and both were from MEXICO!

This is Jay Jay Jnr...
It wasn't until the Wednesday night on the cruise when we decided to check out what the heck was going on outside on the deck. There was an AWESOME live band playing all the "new" (for a year ago) American songs and every single young person on the ship was up and dancing. Hayley (my sister) and I, not so keen to be dancing, stood on the side and sung to the music...then...ENTER JAY JAY AND JONATHON. Apparently, two young girls weren't allowed to just chill and watch to the side...we were suddenly taken gently by the hands and dragged reluctantly onto the dance floor. This moment...was probably the most memorable moment of our time on the cruise. They became such amazing friends and always looked out for us around the ship. We became known as the Aussie twins (apparently we look the same).

A day before we were to depart from the ship...we gave each of them an Aussie koala to remind them of us :) AND Jay Jay took his Koala and attached it to himself on stage during the staff performance show on the last night. We all decided to name the Koala Jay Jay Jnr (creative, i know).

Leaving the cruise ship was probably one of the hardest things we had to do on the entire holiday. We were so close to tears just knowing we wouldn't be seeing out awesome Mexican friends anymore. Hayley and I made a pact to not leave the ship without saying goodbye to them....if it was the last thing we did. Searching the corridors, ignoring directions about where we should be going, asking all staff where Jay Jay was...we finally found him. He had Jay Jay Jnr attached to his suit jacket and was sad to be seeing us leaving.

We departed the ship...and shed some tears, but walked away with a thousand memories. We entered Venice, found our hotel...lugged our bags up and down bridges...then left the room to go and see the ships pass us by one last time. None of us wanted to see anything Venice had to offer...all we wanted to do was see the ship sail past one last time...and give one final wave goodbye. BUT Mum and Dad dragged us around Venice for a bit...and just like fate...we literally bumped into Jay Jay...again...in person...in the piazza in Venice. Not just once...but 3 TIMES. We had JUST finally come to terms with the fact we wouldn't see him again...then BAM...tears came about again. More photos were taken and laughs were had at the coincidence of bumping into him among the thousands of people walking around this city. CRAZY. But it happened.

Jay Jay Jnr has since lived through a tough night of tequila shots and beer on Jay Jay's birthday and I presume many other countless nights. I guess the Mexican party gene was passed down. Jay Jay Jnr has a whole photo album dedicated to him on facebook.

Who would have thought that I would still be friends with this crazy, party animal Mexican who I met on a cruise in Greece last year? He is this amazing person who loves what he does for a living, gets to travel the world and meet different people every day. That cruise would never have been as fun if he never came up to us and forced us to dance!

I guess, sometimes, you just gotta live in the moment. Jay Jay Jnr...hope you are still living my friend!
