Fifty Shades of Wrong

A Review by Kira Apps (@GcGoodness) a awesome friend of mine :)

This review comes after my mother sent me the "Fifty Shades" trilogy with a letter saying "Kira you have to read these..."
Lesson one for Kira is NEVER read a book your mother sends you EVER again.
The first thing I want to say is I have NO IDEA how all these women across the world have fallen in love with "Mr Grey". I dislike the man with a passion and would go to any length possible to avoid him at all costs.
The book starts out fine...a couple of College students doing the normal things, work, study and little time to do anything else. Ana gets talked into doing an interview with the rich and messed up in the the head Mr Grey for a friend and it all goes down hill from there.

It's all "oh he is so good looking" and "ohh he will never want me" until he tracks Ana down (STALKING! RED FLAG!) and sweet talks her and at the same time warning her he isn't safe for her...Sound familiar Twilight fans? :S

The story continues on and on...Ana wanting Grey and Grey wanting Ana but the thing that Grey wants to do more than anything is to control Ana. Control what she eats, how she dresses, what car she drives (he takes her car and buys her a new one!) who she talks to the list goes on and on...

The crazy freaky sex in the "Red Room of PAIN" and the way Mr Grey gets his kicks is the main part of the book, he gets off on inflicting pain onto Ana for so many different reasons like rolling her eyes (she was told she wouldn't be able to sit down for a week of she ever did that again) and she being the young inexperienced girl she is she takes it all thinking that he will one day grow to love her and want more than just sex...that doesn't happen even though Mr Grey "will try" to give her want she wants.

He does have somewhat of a "money gives me power" attitude thinking that he can buy her things and expect her to do as she is told in return. In the end she packs her stuff and leaves knowing full well that this man is messed up and she can't have the life she wants with him.

The things that really got under my skin with this book were:
  1. He is a control freak- wanting to know where she is at all times, who she is with and why she is there;
  2. He hits her knowing that this young girl doesn't like it and will often cry once he has had his way with her;
  3. The rules that he puts in place for her to follow i.e. the no eye contact and the "no you can't touch me" rule,  really got on my nerves
  4. His mood swings! They are insane...and
  5. The way he guilt trips her into doing what he says OR the way he threatens her so she does as she is told.
All in all this book (book number 1) makes my skin crawl and I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE who isn't into the whole kinky sex thing because really, it will have the same effect on you that it did me, it will make you feel sick.
