Describing Beauty

For the first time in my YouTube watching history I actually stopped to watch the whole advertisement even after the mandatory 5 second preview. I was captivated and intrigued by what was happening. The video that I have posted below is "Dove's Real Beauty Sketches" and it is well worth the watch. The video explains how women are their own worst critic. It involved a sketch artist who draws a picture of these women relying only on how they describe themselves. He then sketches another picture of the same woman except how another person describes her. Just watch to find out the results. It made me think about how I would describe myself and how others really see me.

This video is truly beautiful and inspiring. It's incredible how much our own perception often differs from that of a person you just met. Beauty is so predetermined that we forget to notice the little individualistic things that make us beautiful. This shows that we are so critical of ourselves when we should remember the beauty that others see ♥

Girls are their own worst enemy when it comes to defining beauty.I was astounded at the way in which the people described the person they just met...and how they only really saw the beauty in that person rather than the small imperfections. Something else which I noticed was how a woman's personality came through in their description. Not just a physical description, but rather how kind their eyes looked or how happy and welcoming their smile was. This goes to prove that beauty comes from the inside just as much as the outside. A person with dark brooding eyes who has a grumpy unlikable personality might have been described differently to a person with the same eyes but a bubbly personality.

Dove has done an amazing job with this video. Only 4% of women around the globe consider themselves beautiful. Beauty is so predefined that we find women who believe they don't match the criteria for super model are not beautiful.

We are all guilty of undermining ourselves at one point or another. So I guess this post was just to share this video and the way it reaches out to the inner beauty in all of us.
